The Stavros Niarchos Foundation (www.SNF.org) is one of the world’s leading international philanthropic organizations, making grants in the areas of arts and culture, education, health and medicine, and social welfare. While prominent in its support of Greece and Greek-related initiatives, the Foundation’s activities are worldwide in scope. The Foundation funds institutions and projects that exhibit strong leadership and sound management and that have the potential to achieve a broad and lasting impact. We encourage grantees to collaborate, and we work closely with them to monitor their progress. In addition, the Foundation actively seeks to support projects that facilitate the formation of public-private partnerships as effective means for serving public welfare.
To date (2011), the Foundation has provided total grant commitments of €915 million/US $1.3 billion through more than 2,000 grants to nonprofit organizations in 95 nations around the world.

The Paul and Alexandra Canellopoulos Foundation founded was by Paul and Alexandra Canellopoulos in 1999.
The objectives of the Foundation are to showcase Greek art, to advance the knowledge and appreciation of Greek culture, to promote the cause of education and to undertake and support activities assisting charities and the less privileged members of society.
The Foundation is engaged in activities in three main areas: supporting and enriching the collections of the Paul and Alexandra Canellopoulos Museum; supporting a variety of social and cultural causes; and finally, helping to create employment in border regions of Thrace.
At the heart of the activities of the Foundation is the Paul and Alexandra Canellopoulos Museum, the result of the couple’s love of Greek culture and their concern to see the Greek cultural heritage remaining, where possible, within Greek borders. In 1972 they donated their invaluable collection to the Greek state, to be housed in the Paul and Alexandra Canellopoulos Museum.

The ‘Kids' Athletics’ program is organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Lifelong Learning and Religious Affairs and the Hellenic Athletics Federation, under the auspices of the IOC and is free of charge.

This programme serves to highlight the role of the Hellenic Olympic Committee in the promotion of sport, the spirit of supporting and extracurricular physical activity according to the principles of the Olympic Ideal and the educational value of sport in shaping the personalities of young people in the conditions of modern life that we all experience.

The program has been designed by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF), and aims to bring children of primary school age into contact with classic athleticism, to foster their involvement in it, to emphasize the multiple benefits obtainable through sport and simultaneously offer knowledge about history, culture and the principles of sport through the games organised by Kids' Athletics.
The automatic audio guide is at the disposal of students visiting the stadium and gives them the oportunity to learn all about the Stadium and its thousands of years of history. After the tour, the young students come onto the track and learn about athletics.

The program is designed to popularize the sports of classical athletics among children through a combination of various team sport activities in the form of a game: the "Team event for children".
It consists of a set of motor and functional skills tailored to the needs of children according to their age. It includes three groups of sports:
a) track events
b) throwing events
c) jumping events
and is aimed at three age groups :7-8 years, 9-10 years and 11-12 years.
At the end of the programme both the effort and participation of all children is rewarded and they are awarded a certificate.
